Piano and guitar fretboard
Play with your mouse, touch, or a connected MIDI keyboard. Sound On/Off controls the built-in piano. Sustain keeps notes active after you release them so you can build a chord; turn it off to release the held notes. Labels shows or hides keyboard labels. In Chords mode, click or tap the chord symbol or score to hear the loaded chord. On iPad, this also replays a chord held with sustain.
MIDI inputs and outputs
Open the MIDI panel to choose from all available inputs and outputs. You can select one, multiple, or no ports. Connect your controller before selecting its input. On Mac, IAC is the initial output when available: enable it in Audio MIDI Setup and select it as an input in your other instrument app. On iPad, select the Midi Jazz Lab virtual output in the receiving app, or choose another available destination. Avoid routing an output back into the same input. Turn Sound On/Off off if you only want to hear an external instrument.
Study mode
Use the folder menu to open one of the eight original exercises included in the App Store edition, or import MIDI, MusicXML, or MXL with the system file picker. Use Play to listen or Guided mode to practice. Select a numbered step to navigate, adjust BPM and semitone transposition with the pop-up sliders, and turn Swing on or off. The piano roll shows finger numbers when the imported file contains fingerings.
Chords, scales, and note colors
Use the controls above the canvas to load a chord or scale. In Scales mode, green means Root, blue means Structural, yellow means Available extension, and red means Unavailable tension. The same scale function is highlighted when you play a matching note in another octave. Use the fretboard arrows to move between available positions.
Full screen, language, and help
On iPad, double-tap the chord symbol, score, or Study piano roll to leave full screen. On Mac, double-click or press Esc. The globe menu selects English or Spanish; English is selected initially. The question mark opens searchable offline help. Click or tap the app icon for About, privacy, and licenses.
Missing sound or stuck notes
Check Sound On/Off and your device volume. Turn off the on-screen sustain control and release your physical pedal. Stop playback before changing exercises or MIDI devices. If a problem continues, contact support with the mode, exercise step, device, and controller model. You do not need to send your entire library.
Updates
App Store editions update through the App Store. Beta builds update through TestFlight. Editions distributed directly use the update channel shown in About.
